šIntroducing Green Guidesš
A blog in which I announce my debut on the writing coach stage.
Today Iām pleased to announce the launch of Green Guides, a writing coach service.
Through Green Guides, Iāll be offering creative coaching, accountability, and expertise in the writerās tradecraft. My dream is to work with rookie and veteran writers alike to bring their stories to life.
The way this came to be is I ran into my friend Chris Hayes the other day at New Seasons, which was not surprising because we worked at Market of Choice together and both love the grocery game. In any case, after the requisite āHey guyās, I told him he was on my mind because I was considering the coaching game. Chris has been coaching successfully for a while, and he told me there was a market for writing coaches and that Iād do well at that work.
Later in the week, Chris stopped by to talk me through what coaching entails, what a typical meeting looks like, and I noticed the structure was a pleasing mix of counseling/therapy and the only trade Iām any good at besides maybe driving. So my mindwheels began spinning and I thought, āHey, Iāll ask around!ā And so far, of the handful of folks Iāve mentioned this to, two are interested in the service and one asked to be a client.
As a bonus, setting up the infrastructure on my website was surprisingly easy. Hereās the official link.
However, Iāve also written a summary especially for you, my dear Green Room readers:
I believe creative callings are sacredāan outpouring of Holy generosityāand perhaps the most commonly expressed art form is writing. Everyone has stories to tell, and words are how those stories enter the world.
The problem with writing is the solitude, one soul translating their thoughts to paper or screen. That sort of inner work can be agonizing and lonely. At a certain point, isolation gets destructive.
While some solitude is inevitable, my most memorable and productive creative projects were all collaborative and had accountablity.
So thatās why Iām launching Green Guides, to provide expertise, guidance, support, and a veteran squadmate in the writing trenches.
If you or someone you knowāaspiring or experiencedāis working on a creative project and might benefit from a coach, send me an email and weāll chat!
Thanks for your time.
Jordan, I really loved your description of Green Guides and why having a writing coach would be helpful. We all need encouraging, after all. All best wishes for this new enterprise.
